Sifan Hassan completed an incredible double by adding the women’s 1500m title to her 10,000m gold won earlier in the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha. A scintillating display of front-running saw Hassan win gold in 3:51.95, obliterating the championship record and climbing to sixth on the all-time list. Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon claimed a Kenyan record of 3:54.22 in silver, while bronze went to Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, who took more than three seconds from her previous in a personal best, running 3:54.38.
