NEW ORLEANS, La. – The NC State men’s and women’s cross country teams have been named All-Academic Teams for the 2021 season by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as announced by the organization on Thursday. The women’s team was additionally named the Women’s Cross Country National Scholar Team of the Year for the first time in program history.
To receive All-Academic Team honors, a squad must holt at least a 3.0 team GPA on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
The Wolfpack women’s squad maintains a team GPA of 3.58 while the men hold a 3.04.
Six individuals on the women’s team earned individual All-Academic status. To garner an individual honor, a student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale an must have qualified for a national championship meet or finished in the top five of his or her respective conference championship.
Kelsey Chmiel, Allie Hays, Heather Holt, Savannah Shaw, Hannah Steelman and Katelyn Tuohy each were named All-Academic Athletes.
Chmiel, Hays and Shaw’s honors are the third of their careers while Steelman and Tuohy earn the laurels for the second time.
