BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (theACC.com) – Florida State fifth-year senior Trey Cunningham continued to top himself on Saturday, capturing the gold medal in the men’s 60-meter hurdles with a personal best tie of 7.38 at the 2022 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The time is a new personal-best time for Cunningham, even faster than the 7.40 seconds he registered at the ACC Championship preliminaries last month in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Cunningham, who improved on his own ACC 60 meters record yet again, owns the second, third, fifth and sixth fastest times in the event. He only trails former Florida Gator Grant Holloway’s time of 7.35 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles all-time.
Cunningham, currently a member of The Bowerman Watch List, became the second ACC student-athlete to claim a gold medal at this year’s NCAA Championships. Virginia Tech’s Rachel Baxter placed first in the women’s pole on Friday, exceeding 15 feet with an ACC-record mark of 4.62 meters.
