Timberg Takes Gold at Big Ten Championships


MINNEAPOLIS – Freshman pole vaulter Chloe Timberg captured gold at the 2022 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Friday in Minneapolis, Minn. It marks her second conference championship medal after earning silver in indoor.
 
Timberg cleared 4.28m (14′ 0.5″) to earn the Big Ten Championship. She added to a successful first day for the Scarlet Knights, which included two more podium finishes. In the women’s javelin, Alexa Gardner finished fourth with a personal record throw of 48.08m (157′ 9″), while Emilie Ghalam placed eighth with a throw of 39.68m (130′ 2″).
 
On the men’s side, Jameson Woodell broke a 12-year-old school record in the 400-meter hurdles as he ran 50.52, the second fastest time in the prelims. He advances to the finals on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights qualified in all of its men’s prelims with Nadale Buntin advancing in the 200-meter and Billy Hill moving on to the 1,500 finals.
