Orange Track Athletes Honored for Academic Success


Both the Syracuse men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs were honored by the US Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association for their academic success.

Both squads maintained a cumulative GPA of over 3.0 to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams distinction. Additionally, three Orange standouts were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Annie Boos, Kevin Robertson and Matthew Scrape earned the accolade.

In order to be on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must maintain over a 3.25 GPA, have been named an All-American or have finished in the top-96 nationally (indoor) or top-48 of their region (outdoor) in their respective event.

Boos, who is majoring in Magazine, News and Digital Journalism as a graduate student in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was an Honorable Mention All-American in the steeplechase this spring. A bronze medalist at the ACC Championships, Boos set a new personal best time of 9:56.28 at the meet.

Robertson is majoring in computer engineering in the iSchool at Syracuse. Robertson qualified for the NCAA East Prelim for the first time in his young career during his sophomore season. He took 39th at the event.

Scrape is a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences. He also qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary round, where he competed in the 10k. Scape set new PRs in the 10k (29:07.86) and 5k (13:56.81) this season.
