LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the indoor season fast approaching, the University of Louisville men’s and women’s track and field teams welcome 40 newcomers to campus, with 21 women and 19 men joining the squad.
“As you can see, we have a very large group of newcomers joining our program this fall,” said head coach Dale Cowper. “I’m blessed to have an excellent coaching staff that has worked tirelessly to assemble a strong recruiting class.”
“We continue to build a balanced team that will be able to achieve success on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. Our newcomers have begun the adjustment process and are advancing well through our fall training plan.”
Last season, the Cardinal women placed sixth at the ACC Championships, while the men placed ninth. The teams combined to send 31 athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and saw eight of those athletes reach the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Seventeen of the track and field newcomers will also be competing for Louisville’s cross country team in the fall. Information on the cross country/distance squad’s arrival to campus can be found here.
