Demon Deacons Set to Compete at Paul Short Run


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following an impressive performance to open the 2022 campaign, the Wake Forest women’s cross country team will return to action Friday for the Paul Short Run at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
 
The Demon Deacons will compete in the Women’s Gold 6k Race, which is slated to begin at approximately 11:45 a.m.
 
Competing for the Deacs are Hana Catsimanes, Madeline Rehm, Caroline Garrett, Emma Douglass, Leigh Walters, Meredith Helton, Emily Akin, Mackenna Curtis-Collins, Mackenzie Hart and Elise Wright.

Demon Deacon Quick Hits

  • Wake Forest will look to build upon a solid 2022 campaign in which it finished eighth in the Southeast Region.
  • The Demon Deacons’ 2021 season was highlighted by a first-place finish at the Chanticleer Challenge and a second place finish at the Wolfpack Adidas Cross Country Challenge.

    • The women also placed eighth out of 31 Division I teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional a season ago.

  • This season, the Demon Deacons are led by Elise Wright who finished 33rd at the Southeast Regional Championships a year ago.
  • Despite being picked to finish ninth in the ACC, Wake Forest’s women cross country team was picked to finish sixth in the Southeast Region by the USTFCCCA.
