Vanderbilt Track and Field | Shelby Selected to Attend Women Leaders Convention

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt track and field sprinter, Taiya Shelby has been selected to attend the Women Leaders national conference as a representative for Southeastern Convention student-athletes.

This year’s convention will take place in Shelby’s hometown of Kansas City, Missouri on Oct. 9 – 11. The SEC has been a part of selecting student-athletes to representatives since 2017 to attend this leadership conference.

Shelby joins 13 other student-athletes for this two-day professional and personal development opportunity. The convention is geared toward advancing the network of student-athletes seeking careers in college athletics.

Shelby is a graduate leader for the Commodores who consistently sets the tone for the program. During her tenure at Vandy she has set numerous all-time Vanderbilt records, competed at several NCAA Championships, qualified for the semifinals at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in the 400 meters, been selected for various academic awards and chosen to the SEC Community Service Team.
