Cardinals Ready for Bradley Pink Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men’s and women’s cross country teams will conclude their regular season on Friday afternoon when they travel to Peoria, Ill. to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic.

The event hosted by Bradley University will take place at Newman Golf Course, where the women will compete over 6K for the first time this season, while the men will run 8K. The women’s Red Race will begin at 4 p.m. ET followed by the men’s Red Race at 4:45 p.m. ET.

“This weekend is another opportunity for our students to experience a new course and racing environment,” said head coach Dale Cowper. “I’m excited to see our men’s squad continue the progress they have been making as well as watch our women’s group make the transition from the 5K to 6K distance.”

Both teams will field nine athletes for the invitational. Live results can be found here.

Thirty-eight teams will compete in the women’s Red Race, led by No. 29 Illinois from the Big Ten, who won the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on Sept. 17. The men’s Red Race will consist of 35 teams, with Grand Valley State leading the charge. The Lakers won the Live in Lou Classic on Oct. 1 and are currently ranked as the No. 3 men’s team in Division II.

The Cardinals are coming off their first home meet of the year at the aforementioned Live in Lou Classic two weeks ago. The men placed tenth as a team, paced by sophomore Ian Kibiwot’s sixth-place performance in a time of 23:31.2. Isaac Kiprop added a 33rd-place finish as many Louisville athletes recorded lifetime personal bests.

Madeline Castleberry led on the women’s side again, placing 73rd in a time of 17:53.5 over the 5K race. The scoring five remained the same for the second consecutive meet as the women placed 33rd.
