Female athletes will compete for a new cup at the Lindsays National XC Relays – the Marjory Cook Trophy.

The trophy will be awarded to the winning team in the Senior Women’s category at Cumbernauld and in future years.

Marjory Cook’s twin daughters, Susan and Elaine, came up with the idea to mark their mother’s long service to the sport and her love for cross country.

The hugely popular Official sadly passed away in May 2021. Marjory’s contribution to our sport was over more than four decades and she was an Honorary Life Member and winner of the Tom Stillie Sword.

‘We want to thank Susan and Elaine for their help with this lovely idea,’ said Alex Jackson, of the Road Running and Cross Country Commission.

‘As they’ve said to me, the National XC Relays at Cumbernauld was the favourite event of the year for Marjory.

‘So it is fitting there is now a trophy in her memory via the Senior Women’s race and we look forward to it being presented this weekend and in the years ahead.’
