Maryland Opens Postseason Competition at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships


ANN ARBOR, MI – The Maryland women’s cross country team traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to compete in the Big Ten Cross Country Championships. 

 

The Terps were led by senior Anna Coffin and Sophomore Katie Altieri, who raced to the squad’s top two scoring place finishes. Maryland continued to deliver impressive performances and will now gear up to take on the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in two weeks.

Meet Notes:

 

  • Anna Coffin led the way for the Terps squad, crossing the finish line in 21:41.3, as the squad’s top scorer

  • Sophomore Katie Altieri was the second scorer on the day, finishing in an impressive 21:45.6 at her second Cross Country Championships.

  • Katie Turk (22:05.7) continued to impress this season, finishing as the third Terp across the line. 

  • Katerina Talanova and Sophia Zell rounded out the scoring for the Terps, as the fourth and fifth Maryland finishers. 

  • Junior Amanda Eliker and Freshman Rubie Goffena had strong showings in their Big Ten Cross Country Championship debuts. 

  • Emma Pegg competed at her second straight cross country conference championship.

 

Next Up:

 

The Terps will continue to compete in postseason competition on November 11th, when the squad will take on the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet at Penn State University.
