Vanderbilt Cross Country | Commodores Bound for NCAA Regionals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt cross country program will travel to Huntsville, Alabama, this weekend to compete in the 2022 NCAA South Regionals on Friday.

The women’s 6K race is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. CT start, while the men’s 10K race will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT. Both races will take place at the John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, with North Alabama serving as the host institution with assistance from the Huntsville Sports Commission and the city of Huntsville.

The Commodores last competed in the SEC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 28, where the Vanderbilt women earned a ninth-place finish. The team was led by sophomore Cameron Fawcett, who paced the Commodores for the second consecutive race, while junior Caroline Eck and freshman. Audrey Allman earned top-40 finishes.

On the men’s side, sophomore Philip Metcalf led Vanderbilt at the conference championships, while fellow sophomore Zach Hodges and freshman Michael Schumacher rounded out the Vanderbilt’s top-three finishers. Schumacher has led Vandy in two of the team’s five races this season. Freshman Brody Haar will round out Vandy’s participants in the regionals.

Heading into the weekend, the Vanderbilt women are ranked No. 9 in the South Region according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
