NC State cross country heads to Stillwater for NCAAs looking for a repeat


RALEIGH The NC State women’s cross country team will look to repeat as national champions this weekend in Stillwater, OK.
 
The Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course will host the 2022 championships. It will be the 36th overall and ninths consecutive NCAA Championship appearance for the women’s team.
 
The Wolfpack men will take advantage of receiving an at-large bid and also competiting in Stillwater.

WATCH PARTY INFORMATION
 
NC State Athletics will host a watch party for the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships at Sammy’s Tap and Grill at 2235 Avent Ferry Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606. Fans are welcome to attend, and the doors will open at 10 a.m.
 
2020 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS REWIND
 
NC State won its first national title, totaling 84 points to win the championship. 
 
The Wolfpack was led by Kelsey Chmiel’s sixth-place individual finish with a time of 19:34.6 as the highest ACC finisher .
 
Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy also posted a top-20 finish as her time of 19:43.1 placed her 15th.
 
Allie Hays recorded the first All-America performance of her career, placing 22nd with a time of 19:48.2 while Hannah Steelman placed 24th in 19:49.6. Sam Bush rounded out the Pack’s five that counted towards the team total with her 32nd-place finish (19:52.9).
 
All five of the Pack’s top finishers that counted towards the team score earned All-American honors to set a program record for number of All-American honorees in a single season.
 
PACK IN THE POLLS
 
The NC State women’s team spent the entire regular season ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll.
 
The Wolfpack men were ranked 18th in the USTFCCA Coaches Poll heading into the championship weekend.  
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
The N.C. State women’s team won its sixth straight regional title, finishing with six runners in the top 15 and seven in the top 20.
 
Katelyn Tuohy, Kelsey Chmiel and Samantha Bush were the first three athletes to cross the finish line. 
 
Tuohy, the sophomore from Stony Point, NY, finished first, crossing the finish line at 19:49.1.
 
Chmiel wasn’t too far away, finishing the race in 19:58.6, with Bush coming in third at 20:08.0.
 
Sydney Seymour (7th place, 20:12.5), Nevada Mareno (12th, 20:25.6)…
