NEW ORLEANS – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the season.

Many of these athletes and coaches ended their season this past weekend at the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Men’s Athletes of the Year
The Dan McClimon Award
GREAT LAKES REGION — Barry Keane — Butler
Keane, who hails from Waterford, Ireland, captured the individual title at the Great Lakes Regional Championships in 29:38.1. Eight days later, Keane finished 17th at the 2022 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships in 29:18.0. Earlier in the season, Keane took top individual honors at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and finished second at the NCAA DI Pre-National/Weis-Crockett Invitational, among other accomplishments.
The Charles Werner Award
MID-ATLANTIC REGION — Liam Murphy — Villanova
Murphy, who hails from Millstone, New Jersey, won the individual title at the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships in 29:52.5. Earlier in the season, Murphy finished third at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and took fourth place at the Paul Short Run, among other feats.
The Bill Bergan Award
MIDWEST REGION — Alex Maier — Oklahoma State
Maier, who hails from Flower Mound, Texas, was the Midwest Region’s top finisher at the 2022 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships with a fifth-place finish in 28:58.1. Earlier in the season, Maier took top individual honors at both the Big 12 Cross Country Championships as well as the Cowboy Jamboree.
MOUNTAIN REGION — Nico Young — Northern Arizona
Young, who hails from Camarillo, California, finished runner-up at the 2022 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships in 28:44.5. He never finished outside the top-5 this season, earning top individual honors at the Mountain Region Championships and the Big Sky Cross Country Championships, along with a runner-up finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.

NORTHEAST REGION — Graham Blanks — Harvard
Blanks, who hails from Athens, Georgia, finished sixth at the 2022 NCAA DI Cross…
