Katie Borchers is one of the best cross country and middle distance runners in Ohio State history. A standout in the classroom as well, she was the 2015 recipient of the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor, awarded yearly to the senior student-athlete at each B1G school who “attained the greatest proficiency in athletics and scholastic work.”

She earned Second Team All-America honors in the 800m at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships and was a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection in track. She and the Buckeyes claimed the Big Ten indoor championship her senior season in 2015 and was part of the outdoor championship team in 2012.

On the cross country course, Borchers is the only two-time All-American and was the first two-time All-Big Ten honoree for the Buckeyes, garnering first team all-conference honors in 2013 and second team accolades in 2014. In 2014, she led the Scarlet and Gray to its second team appearance at the NCAA championships after qualifying as an individual in 2013. She placed 40th at the 2013 event and 34th in 2014 to earn All-America accolades and also was a two-time All-Great Lakes region selection.

A native of Russia, Ohio, Borchers ended her career as the program record holder in the indoor 800-meter, 1,000-meter and one mile runs and in the outdoor 800m and 1500m runs.

Academically, Borchers was a 2014 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
