Illinois Track to Chicago for Wisconsin Midwest Invitational


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s track and field teams are prepared for their first road trip of the season when they travel to Chicago on Jan. 14 for the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational. Field events are set to start at 11:45 a.m. and running events are set to start at 2:25 p.m.

The field includes: Purdue, Milwaukee, Southern Illinois and Wisconsin. The Illini set five new top-10 school marks in their first meet, the Illini Classic, last Friday, Jan. 6.

Freshman made an early impact in their Illini debuts. Olivia Campbell threw the programs fourth best hammer throw with a 17.72m (58-1 3/4). Faith Deering now holds the eighth best weight throw with a 15.66m (51-4 1/2). Azariyah Bryant ran the schools eight best 60m, clocking a 7.38. Mia Morello placed herself tenth in the pole vault record book with a 3.87m (12-8 1/4).

ILLINI NOTES

  • Tyler SudduthΒ improved his personal-best weight throw to 19.53m (64-1), still sixth in school history.
  • Tacoria Humphrey is now tied for tenth for the schools best long jump, 6.01m (19-8 3/4).
  • There were 18 new personal best total set at the Illini Classic.
