Track and Field to Open Season at Hawkeye Invitational


COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team will open its 2023 indoor season on Friday at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. The two day meet will begin at 4 p.m. Friday with the weight throw and 11 a.m. Saturday with the high jump.

Missouri enters the season led by three returning athletes who earned All-American honors at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships. Georgi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria) finished fourth in the men’s triple jump with a 16.23m (53-3) mark. Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) earned fifth in the men’s high jump with a 2.20m (7-2.5) distance. Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) leaped 13.52m (44-4.25) in the women’s triple jump, placing seventh overall.

The Tigers’ competitors in the meet will be Ball State, Bradley, Indian Hills cross country, Iowa Central cross country, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and Wisconsin-River Falls.
