Terps Take on Nittany Lion Challenge


UNIVERSITY PARK – The Maryland Track and field squads competed in the Nittany Lion Challenge at Penn State University.

 

Maryland’s squads competed in their first competition since the Navy invitational prior to winter break. The Terps were off to a hot start, garnering several podium finishes, and personal bests.

Women’s Notes:

 

Men’s Notes:

  • Jeff Kline (19.30m) took third place in the shot put. Rhys Allen (15.78m) also competed in the event. 

  • Tyler Baruch (6.80m) took sixth in the long jump.

  • Luke Tobia (19.04m) took third in the weight throw.

  • Brandon Turpin (8.33s) and Drake Murphy (8.35s) earned top five finishes in the 60m hurdles. This was a personal best for Murphy. 

  • Chase McGeehan set a personal record of 1:53.53 in the 800m placing 3rd in the event. 

  • Kevin Collins took fourth in the 60m dash with a personal best 6.95. Tommy Adebayo also set a personal best of 6.93 in the qualifying rounds. 

  • Kevin Collins (22.12s) took fifth in the 200m. Kamari Trotz also competed.

 

Coaches Comments

“We are continuing to build momentum for the indoor season and today’s performances will provide those building blocks.” 

 

Next up

The team will be back in action at Virginia Tech on 2/3.
