Illinois Track and Field Off to Larry Wieczorek Invitational


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s track and field teams are aimed to travel out to Iowa City, Iowa for the Larry Wieczorek Invitational. It will be a two-day meet starting Friday, Jan. 20 with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 4 p.m. CT. Saturday, Jan. 21 field events will start again at 11 a.m. and running events will be at 2:50 p.m. CT.

Senior Jessica McDowell broke Ashley Spencer’s 300m school record at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational last Saturday, Jan. 14 with a blazing 37.13. Freshman Mia Morello continues to vault her way up the school record book. She now holds the schools second best vault all time with a 4.17m (13-8 1/4).

Senior Tyler Sudduth tossed Illinois’ third best weight throw, 20.95m (68-8 3/4). Freshman Olivia Campbell moved herself up to number two in the weight throw record book, 18.56m (60-10 3/4). Sophomore Carolina Hintz is now ninth with a 15.31m (50-2 3/4) toss.

  • One new program record was set at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational, Jessica McDowell 300m, 37.13
  • Five new Illinois top-ten marks were set as well last meet.
  • 11 new personal-bests set across the team
