Aggie Women’s 4x400m Team Shines at Red Raider Open - Texas A&M Athletics

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas A&M women’s 4x400m team headlined the Red Raider Open inside the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center, Friday evening.

The Aggies ended the day with 20 athletes registering personal bests, five all-time top 12 performer list marks and six event winners, including the women’s 4x400m victory.

The Maroon & White ushered from the gun as Tierra Robinson-Jones took the lead with her 52.92 split before handing the baton to Kennedy Wade. Wade, running 52.76 in the 400m earlier in the day to become the 11th-fastest Aggie all-time, split 52.67 to hold the lead for the Aggies. Sanu Jallow was third leg, clocking 53.31 before handing off to anchor Jania Martin, who brought Texas A&M home in 52.45 to win in 3:31.34. The time is the third-fastest in the nation this season, topping the previous Aggie season-best of 3:32.15.

The Aggies took the top two spots in the women’s long jump competition as G’Auna Edwards won, soaring past 20-9/6.32m to top teammate Jonair Thomas’ jump of 20-4.25/6.21m and move her up to tie the fourth-best performer in school history. Thomas’ jump also earned her a spot in the record book, as her leap makes her the 11th-best long jumper in school history.

On the men’s side, Zach Davis ended the day strong, taking second place in pole vault. Davis’ vault of 17-9.75/5.43m helped him jump up the Texas A&M all-time performer list, settling in at No. 7.

Texas A&M is next in action at the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 27-28 at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
