Bulldogs Travel To CrossPlex For Samford Open


STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field continues its indoor slate with the Bulldogs returning to the CrossPlex in Birmingham for the Samford Open on Saturday, Jan. 21.  
 
Twenty student-athletes will represent Mississippi State across 10 total running and field events over the course of Saturday’s one-day meet. The Bulldogs will be featured in four running events and six field events at the CrossPlex.
 
The Samford Open is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday with the women’s weight throw competition, which will feature Jhordyn Stallworth and Tafada Wright. Last weekend, Stallworth took home first place in the women’s weight throw with a personal-best mark of 18.09m (59-4.25) at the UAB Blazer Invite.
 
State will kick off the running events at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday with Asia Poe competing in the women’s 60m hurdles preliminary. Poe will also represent MSU in the women’s shot put, which is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in Birmingham.
 

Mississippi State posted a strong start to its 2023 indoor campaign with 12 victories and multiple Top-5 finishes at the Blazer Invite in Birmingham, Alabama, on Jan. 13.
