Grant Earns Performer of the Week Honors – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, S.C. — Kiara Grant’s record-breaking performance at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open on Jan. 20 earned her this week’s women’s track performer of the week award, the conference announced on Tuesday. Grant’s 7.09 (7.11 altitude adjusted) time in the 60 meter dash broke an ACC record that stood for 23 years.

Grant had set a PR in each meet this season, culminating in her historic time set in Lubbock. Her 7.11 second time is second-fastest in the nation this season, behind only Texas’s Julien Alfred, who was the 2022 NCAA Champion in the 100 meter dash.

The native of Kingston, Jamaica is the fourth Tiger this season to claim the conference honor, with Wanya McCoy, Daniel Cope and Marie Forbes all earning the recognition following their performances at the Clemson Opener.

Grant and the Tigers return to action on Friday at home for the Bob Pollock Invitational. Competition will begin at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
