Noles Capture USTFCCCA XC All-Academic Awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    –  After finishing 18th at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships in November, the Florida State women’s cross country team was chosen as an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) on Thursday.

Additionally, Agnes McTighe, Emmy Van den Berg, Alyson Churchill, and FSU men’s cross country team member Cooper Schroeder earned individual honors.

I am extremely proud of Cooper, Agnes, Alyson, and Emmy,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “This is a fantastic honor for them. I believe this reflects the academic support that Florida State offers and challenges our extraordinary student-athletes.”

The women’s team earned the honor every season since 2010 after achieving a GPA of 3.662. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 during the most recent grading period.

“Our women’s team has been a decade-plus fixture for this honor,” Braman added. “They’re always a 3.5 or higher GPA squad.”

Individually, McTighe, Van den Berg and Churchill were three of the 171 women across NCAA Division I to achieve All-Academic distinction. To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher and finish in the top 25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

All three ladies earned All-South region honors in 2022 in the 6k, led by Van den Berg in sixth (19:47.70), Churchill in 11th (19:59.70), and McTighe in 14th.

Schroeder was one of 124 named to the men’s list. He placed 14th at the 2022 NCAA South Regional Championships in the 10K at 29:57.70.
