Final entries confirmed for British Champs

Hundreds of athletes are set to converge on Birmingham this weekend for the British Indoor Champs – and there will be a strong Scottish cohort competing.

The Champs are the trials for the GB and NI team for the up-coming European Indoor Champs in Turkey.

That selection will be announced next midweek and athletes can nail down places with performances at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Saturday and Sunday.

And while some top Scots will be marked absence through injury (Jake Wightman, Zoey Clark) and other reasons, there certainly looks like there will be a number of Scottish contenders.

Nicole Yeargin, Neil Gourley, Guy Learmonth, Erin Wallace and Eloise Walker would be among those with high hopes for the European selection while, of course, for others a podium place or indeed a place in a final will be the main goal for the weekend.

In no particular order, among the (long) lists of those athletes who have accepted entries we are seeing the following names:

Men: Will Grimsey, Reuben Nairne, Adam Thomas, Ethan Pottie, Krishawn Aiken, Dean Patterson, Stephen Mackay, Seamus Mackay, Jamie MacKinnon, Kyle Alexander, Adam Hoole, Callum Newby, Will Hodi, Paul Ogun, Jack Patton, Ben Greenwood

Women: Alisha Rees, Alyson Bell, Sarah Malone, Kathryn Christie, Sofia Vidak, Jenny Selman, Carys McAulay, Jill Cherry, Georgina Adam, Philippa Millage, Hannah Cameron, Nikki Manson, Libby White, Claire McGarvey, Amy Kennedy, Teddy Tchoudja

Apologies if we have missed one or two.

Good luck to all the Scottish athletes and their coaches heading to Birmingham this weekend.
