Fisher, Rivera Earn Accolades at WIN Awards


COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Track and field team’s Arianna Fisher and Sophia Rivera took home accolades at the Women’s Intersport Network for Columbia awards luncheon on Tuesday.

Fisher was named Collegiate Sportswoman of the Year while Rivera earned the Inspiration award from the local organization.

The duo has had a pair of standout athletic careers for the Tigers. Fisher, a two-time All-American in the triple jump set the Missouri program record last season at the Razorback Invitational with a leap of 13.52m.

In the classroom, the San Jose, Calif. native, was named a 2022 Academic All-American by the USTAFCCA and has appeared on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll all four years of her collegiate tenure.

A 2022 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Education, she is currently pursuing a master’s in education with an emphasis in educational and counseling psychology.

Rivera, a native of Brentwood, Mo., became the second-ever Missouri athlete to earn All-American accolades in the javelin last season as she posted a mark of 53.87m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. Rivera is second all-time in program history in the event throwing 55.73m at the John McDonnell Invitational in 2019.

Also recognized during the event was former Tiger Kearsten Peoples. Peoples, a finalist for Mentor of the Year is an 11-time All-American, four-time SEC champion and was the 2012 Big-12 Outstanding Freshman of the Year. Currently serving as an academic coordinator at the department of athletics, Peoples oversees all educational-related activities for the Missouri Track and Field program.

Presenting the athletes with their honors and serving as the keynote speaker was Krishna Lee, a 2009 graduate and a three-time All-American. Lee ended her Missouri tenure with three program top-ten marks. Following her collegiate career, the Ottawa, Kan. native served the Tigers in a variety of roles including volunteer assistant coach and director of operations. Presently, Lee is the general manager of the Kansas City Glory.

The Women’s Intersport Network for Columbia seeks to empower the lives of girls and women through advocating and promoting the lifetime value of sports and fitness, while also providing opportunities for participation and leadership development.
