The Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite opens with women’s pole vault starting Friday at noon, while the women’s 60m hurdles prelims will lead the field events beginning at 4:30 p.m. This weekend marks the final opportunity for Cougars with their sights set on the NCAA Indoor Championships to set a qualifying time/mark as the indoor season winds down with the 2023 Division I championships (Mar. 10-11) less than a month away.

Columbia native Ronald Grueso Mosqquera has continued to show his dominance in the shot put this season. The sophomore has not finished below fourth place in any meet this season. Grueso Mosqquera finished in fourth place with a throw of 17.76m competing against the Arkansaw Qualifier meet record holder.
The freshman record holder for the shot put, Nana Gyedu, continues to win as she picked up her fourth win of the season, notching a shotput throw of 14.96m. Gyedu has finished in the top three in every meet during the indoor season.
IN THE RANKINGS:
Ronald Grueso-Mosqquera blasted past his personal best distance at the WSU Open and Multi with a shot-put throw of 18.55m ranking 37th in the country so far this season. At the moment, the qualifying mark for the Indoor Championships is 19.54m.
