Jackie Johnson Enters Pac-12 Hall of Honor

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced today the 2023 class to be inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor, the Conference’s most prestigious recognition of on-field and off-field contributors to Pac-12 athletics. The 2023 class will be the first ever all-female class inducted into the Hall of Honor in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, which the Pac-12 continues to celebrate through its powHER of the Pac campaign since its launch on the milestone anniversary in June 2022. Jackie Johnson ’08 (Yuma, Arizona), ASU’s only seven-time national champion and one of the best heptathletes to ever grace the sport, is set to enter the Pac-12’s Hall of Honor.

Jackie Johnson is one of the best heptathletes in the history of NCAA track and field. A heptathlete and pentathlete, Johnson picked up the 2006, ’07 and ’08 pentathlon national crowns and the 2004, ’06, ’07, and ’08 heptathlon crowns under legendary coach Greg Kraft, and her personal records in the pentathlon (4,496) and heptathlon (6,307) are both still program bests. In total, she has 10 all-time top-10 marks across ASU’s indoor and outdoor record books. Johnson’s dominant performances almost single handedly won ASU’s three national titles and two conference titles during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. She went on to compete at Beijing 2008 where she competed in five events before pulling out with an injury. In 2022, the USTFCCCA, collegiate track and field’s governing body, announced the inaugural class of the Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame, and Johnson was one of 30 inductees. ASU was one of seven Pac-12-member schools with an inductee.

Formal induction will take place on Friday, March 3 during a private ceremony, as part of the week-long Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament celebrations in Las Vegas, prior to that day’s semifinal matchups. The class will also be celebrated during a special recognition at halftime of the day’s first semifinal matchup at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
