Pack Earns Individual Title and New School Record on First Day of Indoor ACCs


LOUISVILLE, KY – The NC State track and field team kicked off action on day one of the ACC Indoor Championships with an individual ACC Championship and a new school record. 

MULTI-EVENTS

Timara Chapman kicked off the ACC Indoor Championships by competing in the women’s pentathlon. Chapman earned a pair of third place finishes in the high jump (1.71m (5’7.25″) ) and shot put (12.83m (42’1.25″) ), both new personal best marks. She placed in the top-10 for each of the four events in which she participated before withdrawing from the competition. 

DISTANCE

In the women’s 5000M, Kelsey Chmiel clocked in at 15:55.54, a new facility record that earned her first place and the ACC Championship for the event. She was accompanied to the podium by teammate Sydney Seymour, who claimed second place with an effort of 15:57.18 to earn All-ACC First Team honors. 

Gionna Quarzo also competed in the 5000m, taking sixth place and All-ACC Second Team honors with a time of 16:08.01. 

For the second week in a row, the women’s DMR school record was broken. This time, the grouping of Savannah Shaw, Caroline Lewis, Sam Bush, and Katelyn Tuohy earned third place and First Team All-ACC honors with a mark of 10:52.16. 

JUMPS

Kyzaiah Stone finished in sixth with a leap of 2.09m (6’10.25″) to earn All-ACC Second Team honors. 

UP NEXT

The Wolfpack will continue action at the ACC Indoor Championships on Friday, February 23.
