LOUISVILLE, KY- Pitt Track and Field concluded the opening day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on Thursday (Feb.23), with top-10 program performances and personal best records.

Through four events, Felix Wolter sits at first place in the men’s heptathlon with 3344 points. The men’s heptathlon will recommence Friday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. with the 60m hurdles.

Ilse Steigenga completed the women’s heptathlon with 4068 points to collect fifth place. Steigenga is currently third-best in program history.

In the men’s 5000m, Luke Henseler secured a personal best after finishing seventh with a time of 14:00.52. Henseler has claimed the second-best time in program history.

On the field, Foluke Ojibade-Alujide notched a personal best in the women’s weight throw with a mark of 20.13m making her third in program history.

Back on the track, Che Nwabuko and Nigel Hussey advanced to the men’s 200m finals and collected personal best times. Nwabuko claimed seventh place with a time of 21.08. Nwabuko is currently third in program history. Hussey recorded a time of 21.30 to notch the eighth-best time making him sixth in program history.

“Super proud of these two young men,” stated sprints coach Tevin Hester. “They have worked hard for this moment and when the opportunity presented itself, they capitalized. I couldn’t be happier for them”

On the women’s side of the 200m, Aleksandra Stoilova crossed the finish line first for the panthers. Stoilova secured a personal best by placing ninth with a time of 23.90 making her sixth-best in program history. Imani Clark collected 11th place with a time of 23.98.

In the women’s distance meter relay, Emily Brown, Claire Hoffman, Success Duruzor, and Reagan Flannery recorded a season best time of 11:34.34 to claim a 12th-place finish. On the men’s side, Jack Miller, Raymond Oriakhi, Jack Balick, and Finn Walsh took home a seventh-place finish with a time of 9:41.17 and recorded the third-best time in program history.
