OFF THE BLOCKS
In its final regular-season indoor meet of the year, Utah will send 14 competitors to race INSIDE Dempsey Indoor between eight different events. From the distance side of things, Utah will have five compete with Morgan Jensen being the lone Ute running in the 5000m race while the other four will race in the 3000m. On the sprints side of things, the Utes will race in the 60m, 60m hurdles, 200m, and 800m along with the 4x400m relay team.

QUALIFYING TIMES
Heading into this weekend’s competitions, Emily Venters and Simone Plourde are currently the two Utes with qualifying marks. Venters’ time of 15:20.37 in the 5000m currently ranks fifth in the nation while Plourde holds the last and final spot (16th) after running an 8:57.12 in the 3000m two weeks ago at the Huskey Classic.

LAST TIME OUT
The Women of Utah had a huge weekend last time they took to the track, breaking three school records while several others moved into the top-10 or set new PRs. Emily Venters got Utah going first up in Seattle when she broke the program’s 5k record with a run of 15:20.37 while teammate Simone Plourde followed suit less than an hour later by breaking the 3000m record with a time of 8:57.12 – which was previously held by Venters. The very next day, Dee Dennis set her third school record in as many meets when she ran a 53.88 (aa) 400m dash at the Don Kirby Invitational.

UP NEXT
With the regular-season wrapped up for indoor track, the Utes will now see if their times at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite will be fast enough to qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships. A final list of participants for the NCAA Indoor Championships will be available on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
