Men Tied For 5th, Women 11th After Day 2 At ACC T&F Indoors

LOUISVILLE, KY.—The University of North Carolina men are tied for fifth place and the women are 11th after Day 2 of the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Max Stakun-Pickering was the conference’s top freshman finisher in the heptathlon, finishing fifth overall with 5,268 points. Isaac Young’s personal-record 5,173 gave him an eighth-place finish, and Bryce Kazmaier took 10th with 4,892.

As is the case most years, the team winners of the ACC Championships will be determined on Saturday. The three-day event will conclude with finals in eight men’s and women’s running events, in addition to the men’s and women’s shot put, the men’s and women’s triple jump, and the men’s pole vault.

Tar Heels whose efforts on Friday pushed them forward into Saturday’s finals included Taryn Parks (season-best 4:37.93 as the second-fastest qualifier) in the women’s mile and Jesse Hunt (the day’s fastest qualifying time at 4:02.66) in the men’s mile.

Blaise Atkinson’s personal-best time of 8.09 seconds in the 60m hurdles sent him to Saturday’s finals, as did Brianna White’s eighth-place, 54:36 in the women’s 400m.
