Badgers wrap up Big Ten Championships


GENEVA, Ohio – Behind a second-place finish in the shot put, the Wisconsin women’s track and field team finished seventh at the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday. The Badgers scored 57 points, while Michigan won the team title with 109.

Top finishers 

Graduate student Josie Schaefer was the top finisher on day two of the competition, earning a runner-up finish in the shot put.  Schaefer threw a distance of 59 feet, 2 ¾  inches on her fifth throw of the day.

The Badgers picked up points in the 60-meter dash as junior Kiley Robbins finished fourth in 7.31 seconds, while senior Destiny Huven placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.31.

Graduate student Madison Mooney scored a sixth-place finish in the mile in 4:45.67 while redshirt junior Shea Ruhly placed eighth in the 3,000 meters in 9:23.09.

Graduate student Danielle Bellino advanced to her second Big Ten final and had an impressive final race. She finished sixth in 2:05.76. 

Up Next 

The Badgers send qualifiers to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the NCAA Indoor Championships. The nation’s top athletes will compete at the Albuquerque Convention Center on March 10-11. Qualifiers will be announced on Feb. 28.
