Tech Earns Two Bronze Medals at ACC Champs – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – On the final day of competition at the ACC Indoor Championships, the Georgia Tech track and field teams were led by bronze-medal performances from Sheleah Harris and Jamir Gibson.

After recording a new personal-best time in the preliminaries, Harris qualified for the finals in the women’s 60m. During today’s finals, Harris placed third overall with a time of 7.35 against a fast group of competitors.

Tech’s second Bronze Medal of the day was earned by Gibson in the men’s shot put. He achieved his third-place mark of 18.44 meters (60-6) during his second attempt of the first round of throws.

Harris and Gibson rounded out Tech’s three All-ACC First Team honorees at this weekend’s championship.

Two other Jackets competed in the finals of their respective events today. Taylor Grimes came in eighth place in the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.46. Jameson Miller took home seventh place in the men’s 400m with a personal-best time of 47.38.

The final day of competition featured the men’s triple jump and the men’s pole vault. John Watkins earns All-ACC Second Team honors in the triple jump with a sixth place and season-best mark of 15.48 meters (50-9.50). Matthew Mazzacano finished in 12th place in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 4.98 meters (16-4).
