Tuohy claims ACC Individual Title on Final Day of ACC Indoor Championships


LOUISVILLE, KY – The NC State track and field team wrapped up action at the ACC Indoor Championships on Saturday with Katelyn Tuohy claiming an individual ACC title and five athletes earning Second Team All-ACC honors. 

DISTANCE

Tuohy continued to showcase her talent to the world, earning the individual ACC Championship in the women’s 3000m final after registering a facility and meet record time of 8:51.92 to finish first overall. Sam Bush also participated in the event, finishing fifth and taking home a Second Team All-ACC mark with a time of 9:07.76.

On the men’s side of the 3000m final, Ian Shanklin ran a personal best time of 7:53.75 to earn fifth place and Second Team All-ACC honors. This is now the second-best mark in program history. Ian Harrison clocked in .01 seconds later to finish sixth and earn Second Team All-ACC with a time of 7:53.76, the third-best in Wolfpack history. 

Travis Koekemoer also turned in a personal best in the event, finishing with a time of 8:09.46. 

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Bush earned more Second Team All-ACC honors in the women’s mile final. She registered a time of 4:41.78 to claim fourth place. Grace Hartman also received Second Team All-ACC for the event, finishing sixth with her time of 4:41.88.

SPRINTS

In the men’s 60m, Alex Lang took home fifth place and Second Team All-ACC honors, clocking in at 6.63. 

UP NEXT 

The Wolfpack will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM beginning on Friday, March 10.
