LOUISVILLE, KY – Jirah Sidberry was awarded the ACC Women’s Indoor Field MVP this weekend at the 2023 ACC Indoor Championships thanks to impressive performances in the long jump and the triple jump.
Sidberry took home her first career individual ACC title on Friday in the women’s long jump, earning first place with a personal best jump of 6.31m (20’8.50″). This mark is now third-best in NC State history.
On Saturday, the senior continued her successful weekend, earning a top-10 finish in the women’s triple jump final. She received seventh place with a leap of 12.42m (40’9.00″).
This was the second consecutive year in which Sidberry has walked away with hardware from the ACC Indoor Championships. Last season, she garnered her first-career All-ACC honors, with a third place finish in the women’s triple jump.
Sidberry is the second athlete in NC State history to take home Women’s Field MVP honors at ACC Indoors. Karimah Shepherd received the award in 2013 after winning the ACC Championship in the long jump and triple jump. Her performance of 6.45m (21’2.00″) in the long jump still stands as the school record.
