Vilches to Compete in European Indoor Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Track and Field team’s Roberto Vilches is set to represent the Tigers at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey from March 2-5.

On Tuesday, the senior was named to the All-SEC Second Team for his finish in the high jump at the indoor conference championships. The senior claimed silver by clearing a season-best height of 2.21m.

The accolade was the latest in the decorated career for the current school record holder and a three-time NCAA All-American.

Vilches has competed in the high jump on two previous occasions this season, he cleared 2.16m to finish second at the Don Kirby Elite invitational on Feb. 11 and took seventh with a mark of 2.16m at the Texas Tech Open on Jan. 27.

Following the global competition, Vilches will travel to Albuquerque, NM to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 10-11.
