Maribel Caicedo is set to represent the Cougars in the Indoor National Championships


PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State graduate transfer Maribel Caicedo will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60m hurdles with the fourth-fastest time in the nation (7.99) on Friday at 3:55 p.m. PST. 
 
The WSU program record holder in the women’s 60m hurdles has found success in the southwest as she won both the UNM Team Open and Don Kirby Elite this year. Caicedo, a graduate student from Ecuador produced the only sub-eight-second 60m hurdles time in school history during the Don Kirby Elite meet in New Mexico. 
 
Before coming to the Palouse, Caicedo earned First Team All-Conference USA twice in 2020 and 2022 during her time at the University of Texas El Paso and was a three-time qualifier into the NCAA DI West Preliminary Rounds.  Caicedo is third all-time in Miner’s record book for the 60m hurdles and fourth for the 100m hurdles.

UP NEXT: With a top-eight finish in Friday’s prelims, Caicedo will earn First Team All-American honors and advance to Saturday’s finals slated for 3:40 p.m. The rest of the Cougar track and field squad will open the 2023 outdoor track and field season with the GCU Invitational (March 17-18) in Phoenix, Ariz.
