Coaches Corner
How exciting is it to open the outdoor season in a place like the Bahamas:
“The Bahamas is a beautiful country with great beaches, amazing scenery and good track. This will be a chance for us to showcase our outdoor abilities internationally and allow local Bahamians to experience track & field from strong competitors. We can do what only five other teams are doing this outdoor season and that is open the year in the Bahamas. We have been partnering with the Island Relays Bahamas for a few years now and are excited to be a part of the island’s first collegiate track & field meet. As coaches, I know we are eager to see the hard work from indoor season carry over to the outdoor track.”

All-American Status
The Gamecocks return eight outdoor All-American honorees from last season’s roster. On the women’s side there are five returning All-Americans: Angel Frank, Rachel Glenn, Alysia Johnson, Ashton Lindley and Jahnile Registre. Frank, Johnson and Registre are coming off indoor First Team All-American honors alongside Aalliyah Francis as the quartet finished seventh at the NCAA Indoor Championship in the 4×400 meter relay. Newcomer, Silan Ayyildiz, and sophomore sprinter, Jayla Jamison, also picked up indoor All-American honors after landing on the Second Team.

The returning male All-Americans are: Jackson Marseille, Evan Miller and William Spencer, Jr. Miller also earned his third consecutive All-American honor over the weekend after finishing Second Team All-American in the men’s 400m at the NCAA Indoor Championship in New Mexico. Joining Miller in New Mexico was Anass Essayi as the Morocco native held the fastest collegiate mile time…
