NEW ORLEANS, La. — Michigan Track and Field program director Kevin Sullivan was named Great Lakes Region Women’s Coach of the Year and Steven Rajewsky was named Great Lakes Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced Thursday (March 16).

In his second year as program director, Sullivan led the Wolverines to the 2023 Big Ten Indoor Championships team title. He saw athletes score in 14 of the 18 events with five event champions. Sullivan’s athletes set five school records this season across five events and one Canadian record in the 400 meters. In all, Michigan had four individual and one relay qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Two Michigan women — Savannah Sutherland and Aurora Rynda — competed in NCAA event finals, both earning first-team All-America status.

Rajewsky, in his ninth year as a Michigan assistant coach, led three Wolverine women and one relay to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, with one athlete moving on to event finals. His athletes accounted for 46.5 of Michigan’s 109 points and the team title at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, scoring points in all of the sprints/hurdles events while setting . Rajewsky’s sprint/hurdle events and setting school records in four.
