Diggs, Moore, and Coach Petersen Receive USTFCCCA Regional Awards


Florida won 3 of the 4 women’s USTFCCCA South Region Awards.


GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Three Florida Gators received US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Regional Awards for their outstanding performances. Talitha Diggs won Women’s South Region Runner of the Year, Jasmine Moore won Women’s South Region Field Athlete of the Year, and Associate Head Coach Nic Petersen won Women’s South Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
Talitha Diggs’ indoor season was exceptional. She was named First Team All-American and All-SEC and broke three school records during the indoor season in the 200m (20.61), 400m (50.15), and 4x400m. She earned gold at the SEC Indoor Championships in the 400m (50.15), setting an American record, collegiate record and finishing with the ninth fastest time in world history in the event. Diggs also finished third at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 400m (50.49).
 
Jasmine Moore continued her unparalleled performances in horizontal jumps earning First Team All-American and All-SEC this season. At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Moore became the first woman to ever clear 15m in the triple jump and 7m in the long jump indoors. She is only one of four women in indoor or outdoor jumps to ever clear these marks. She set the American and collegiate record in the triple jump (15.12m/49’7.25″) and the collegiate record in the long jump (7.03m/23’0.75″) at the NCAA Indoors on her way to her fifth and sixth national title as a Gator. She has won every SEC and NCAA horizontal jump competition as a Gator.
 
In his 11th year at Florida, Coach Nic Petersen coached Jasmine Moore and Claire Bryant to First Team All-American honors. Moore set collegiate records in both the long and triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, winning the individual title in both events. She also won both event titles at the SEC Indoor Championships. Bryant earned third in the long jump at NCAA Indoors (6.88m/22’7) and silver in the long jump at SEC Indoors (6.57m/21’6.75″).
 
The Gators return to action on March 23 and 24 in Tallahassee, Florida as they start their outdoor campaign at the FSU Relays.
