Bulldogs Wrap Up Weekend In Miami


MIAMI – Mississippi State’s track and field program closed out the first meet of the 2023 outdoor campaign on Saturday as the Bulldogs wrapped up competition at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami.
 
Lee Eppie led the way for the men in the running events after winning the 400m with a time of 46.52 to take home first place. Anthony Brodie (47.34) and Sema’J Daniels (48.16) also recorded top 10 finishes in the 400m, with the two finishing third and sixth, respectively.
 
In the men’s javelin competition, MSU had four top 10 finishes, led by Franck DiSanza who placed second with a throw of 70.22m (230-4). Tyriq Horsford (66.53m) finished fifth, following by Remi Rougetet (65.67m) in seventh and Trent Zelden (58.78m) in ninth place with a personal-best mark.
 
On the women’s side, Zoe Brito-Babapulle led the way in the 1500m run after finishing in third place with a personal-best time of 4:26.93. Hayley Ogle followed in fifth place and also recorded a new personal-best after finishing with a time of 4:36.71. In the women’s 400m, Kamaya Debose-Epps placed fourth with a personal-best time of 55.27, while she ran a time of 11.49 in the 100m to finish in sixth place overall.
 
MSU returns home next weekend to host the Bulldog Relays beginning on Thursday (March 23) and continuing on Friday-Saturday (March 24-25) at the Mike Sanders Track Complex in Starkville.
