Track & Field Wins Four More Events to Close Tiger Track Classic


AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss men’s and women’s track & field collected four more event titles to conclude a solid start to the outdoor season at Auburn’s Tiger Track Classic on Saturday.
 
In the men’s pole vault, senior Noah Mumme picked up right where he left off in the indoor season with a strong outdoor open. Mumme – the SEC Indoor silver medalist – won today’s competition at a career outdoor PR height of 5.25m/17-02.75, making him the No. 6 performer in Ole Miss history outdoors. Combined with his SEC runner-up clearance and overall career-best of 5.30m/17-04.50, Mumme is now one of just six vaulters in Ole Miss history to break 17 feet both indoors and outdoors.
 
Also notching top all-time marks in the pole vault were junior Miles Walden in third place at 5.05m/16-06.75 and freshman Logan Kelley in fourth place at the same height – putting them both into a tie for No. 10 in school history.
 
Senior Sara Van Aken had a career day in her outdoor high jump debut for 2023, winning today’s competition at an overall PR of 1.76m/5-09.25. That height pushes her into a tie for No. 6 in school history, and at this early stage of the season it ranks tied for seventh nationally and tied for second in the SEC.
 
In the women’s 100-meter hurdles, senior Jaiden Paris came away with the victory for Ole Miss, opening her outdoor campaign at 13.68 (+0.7) to tie her for No. 7 in school history. Junior Jerricka Ambus took runner-up to Paris at 14.02 (+0.7).
 
In the men’s shot put, senior Daniel Viveros led the way, winning at 18.35m/60-02.50. Freshman Mason Hickel took third in his first outdoor shot put competition at 16.72m/54-10.25, which ranks No. 6 in Ole Miss history.
 
Senior Tedreauna Britt had a pair of runner-up finishes for the Rebel women as well on Saturday, taking second in the shot put at 15.83m/51-11.25 before doing the same in the discus at 53.77m/176-05 – currently No. 8 in the NCAA and No. 3 in the SEC.
 
The Rebels now return home to host the Ole Miss Classic, which is scheduled for March 24-25.
