Alabama Thrower DeMarco Lemons Victorious in Discus at Bulldog Relays


STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Alabama track and field program opened its 2023 outdoor campaign at Mississippi State’s Bulldog Relays on Friday evening, as discus thrower DeMarco Lemons claimed the victory in the Crimson Tide’s lone event of the day.

On his last throw of the night, Lemons threw a mark of 54.07 meters (177’4″) to move from second place and give Alabama the win in the discus. The UA thrower advanced out of heat two in second place with a 52.65m (172’9″) throw. His final attempt propelled him to the top of the event, securing the win by over a foot.

Barry Evans also competed in the event, giving Alabama its second thrower in the finals of the discus. Evans recorded a mark of 49.40 meters (162’1″) to take the top performance in the opening heat and sixth overall.

Twenty-seven Alabama athletes will travel to Starkville, Miss., for the final day of the meet. The Crimson Tide duo of Hailey Poole and Karmen Williams will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday morning in the women’s javelin.

Crimson Tide Top Finishes
