Humphrey Breaks Illini Record; Team Shines at UCLA

On the Track

The Illini success started in the 100m H with senior Kionna Weaver finishing second with a personal-best 13.83. Immediately following, Bret Dannis captured a first place finish with a 14.12. Senior Jason Thormo also ran a personal-best 46.88 in the 400m. In the women’s 100m, freshman Azariyah Bryant finished first with a 11.53. Weaver set another personal best, this time in the 400m H with a 1:00.30. It was a sweep in the 400m H as senior Robert Williams also recorded a personal-best with a 51.25. Bryant again found herself on the podium, this time in the 200m with a 24.22, good for third place. It was an Illinois sweep in both 4x400m relays, with Bryant, senior Danni Stoughton, freshman Madison Hardamon, and Weaver winning with a 3:42.18, while Thormo, freshman Tadeas Placek, senior Kashief King, and Williams won, crossing the line at 3:07.34.

In the Field

Junior Tyler Sudduth got things started for the Illini in the field with a 52.89m personal-best and a 3rd place finish in the discus throw. Immediately following, sophomore Tacoria Humphrey set a new program record and a top-3 mark in the NCAA this season with a 6.39m personal-best, good for a first place finish. Sophomore Daniel Mboyo finished third with a 7.38m leap in the long jump. Sudduth won the shot put with a 18.81m toss, with redshirt senior William Rezny finishing third with a 17.42m toss. It was a one-three finish in women’s pole vault with sophomore Tori Thomas finishing first with a 4.04m vault and freshman Mia Morello finishing third with a 3.89m. In the men’s high jump, senior Alex Babbington finished second with a 2.06m, while CJ Shoaf finished the same, coming in third. Finally, in the women’s triple jump, graduate student Allanah Lee won the triple jump with a 12.41m leap.
