Track & Field Finishes Strong At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C.–The Tar Heels got solid performances from their men’s and women’s throwers as the University of North Carolina track and field teams finished strong at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday.

Carolina concluded its three-day stint at the meet hosted by NC State at the Paul Derr Track with another balanced performance.

Headlining the day, Jordan Fong posted the third-best performance in school history in the women’s hammer throw at 61.82 meters. Emma Vasen and Gracie Bolick both also finished in the top 20 in the hammer for UNC.

On the men’s side, James Joycey and Troy Yearwood finished second and third, respectively in the men’s hammer. Joycey’s 66.02-meter effort was a season best, and Yearwood wasn’t far behind him at 65.11m. Brayden Radhuber, Spencer Williams and Ty Castro all also finished in the top 40 in a top-notch field.

The Tar Heels will return to action in two weeks at the Duke Invitational on April 6-8 in Durham, N.C.
