Chelsea Igberaese, Chris Robinson Crack Alabama’s All-Time Top-10 Lists on First Day of Texas Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In only the second meet of the outdoor season, Alabama track and field’s all-time top-10 lists have already been rewritten as both Chelsea Igberaese and Chris Robinson now sit at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively, in the record book.

On the first day of the Texas Relays, Igberaese’s mark of 62.39 meters (204-8) in the women’s hammer throw gave the Dacula, Ga., native the fifth-farthest throw in Crimson Tide history. The result came off her third throw of the event as Igberaese ultimately finished eighth.

On the track, Robinson clocked 50.05 in the 400-meter hurdles preliminary round to not only win his heat, but automatically qualify for the event final on Friday evening (March 31). The result is now the fourth-fastest time in UA history.

Additionally competing for Alabama was Jacob Wiggers, over in San Francisco, Calif., at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Wiggers finished third in the 10,000-meter run behind a personal-best time of 30:11.90.
