Track and Field Claims Three Podium Spots at Texas Relays


COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team claimed three podium spots during day two of the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational on Friday.

Newcomer Valentina Bornacelli headlined the performances with a new personal-best javelin mark of 56.00m (183-9). The distance ranks her third on Missouri’s all-time event leaderboard.

Sophia Rivera claimed second in the event with a throw of 55.68m (182-8).

Claudina Diaz cleared a personal-best 1.82m (5-11.50) in the high jump. The mark ranks her fourth all-time among Missouri athletes.

 TEXAS RELAYS

  • Euphine Andre finished sixth in the triple jump with a new personal-best mark of 12.91 (42-4.25) which ranks fourth on Missouri’s all-time event leaderboard.
  • Jayson Ashford ran 10.51 in the 100-meter dash, just one millisecond off his personal-best time
  • Robert Hines crossed the line in the event with a new personal best of 10.61
  • La’Rue Martin also notched a personal-best time of 10.78 in the sprint event
  • The Tigers’ 4×100-meter relay team of Jayson Ashford, Blake Hays, Robert Hines, and La’Rue Martin clocked 41.20
  • Isabella Sokolova ran a personal-best 13.86 in the 100m hurdles which ranks ninth historically among Missouri athletes
  • Arianna Fisher leaped 13.41m (44-0) in the women’s triple jump — placing fifth overall.
  • Georgi Nachev posted a mark of 15.78m (51-9.25) in the triple jump
  • Mitch Weber threw 51.01m (167-4) in the discus
