TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish traveled to Indiana State University for the PaceSetter Invitational where they took multiple event titles and top five finishes.
Catherine Coffey took the event title in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.89. Teammate Paige Grant also took first place in the 1500 meter run when she crossed the finish line at 4:32.53, and right behind her in second place was Molly Grant who finished at 4:33.26. Claire Coffey and Aimee Hayde also represented the Irish in the 1500 meter with times of 4:46.12 and 5:04.10.
In the 5000 meter race, Charlotte Bednar took first place with a time of 18:25.80 and Isalina Colsman took second crossing the finish line at 18:43.25.
Alesis Juntunen continued the success for the Irish when she took first place in the shot put with a throw of 13.72m. Ava Butterbaugh and Emma Albano also threw in the shot put with marks of 13.44 meters and 13.22 meters. In the women’s discus, Butterbaugh took second place with a 40.08 meters. Albano took first in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.36 meters.
Sarah David took second place in the women’s javelin throw hitting a mark of 40.13 meters. John Keenan took first place in the men’s javelin along with Lucas MacDonald who took second. Keenan threw for a mark of 60.48 meters and MacDonald hit 54.23 meters.
The men’s shot put featured Michael Shoaf taking first place with a throw of 19.01 meters. Teammate Zach Petko and Henry Boudreau threw for marks of 15.69 meters and 14.26 meters. In the discus, Boudreau took third place with a toss of 48.41 meters. Petko took tenth place with a throw of 42.02 meters.
The Irish continued their success as they took first and second place in the hammer throw. Shoaf took first place throwing for 57.38 meters and Matthew Teague took second place with a 56.50 meter throw. Blake Kusky joined in on the success taking fourth place with a toss of 56.27 meters.
Notre Dame returns to the track on April 8 for the Jack Shaw Invite hosted by Western Michigan.
