LOS ÁNGELES – The Wisconsin women’s track and field team completed in the first two days of competition in California at the Cal State LA Twilight, Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, and Bryan Clay Invitational.
Lindeman unstoppable in hammer throw
Competition began Wednesday afternoon as throwers competed at the Cal State LA Twilight in the hammer.
UW scored back-to-back finishers as Chloe Lindeman and Olivia Roberts went 1-2 respectively. Lindeman is on a hot streak in the hammer as she once again broke the school record with a distance of 211 feet, 8 inches. Lindeman broke her own record of 208-6 set on March 31. Roberts threw a distance of 188-0 to earn the runner-up spot. Abby Peeler and Chikere Oduocha also found themselves with top-10 finishes in the event both throwing a new personal bests. Peeler threw for 168-69, while Oduocha threw 165-4 to place eighth and ninth, respectively.
Pacific Coast Intercollegiate
On Thursday afternoon, Destiny Huven, Josie Schaefer and Lindeman led the Badgers winning their respective events.
Huven won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.51 seconds while Lindeman walked away with her second win of the weekend, claiming the hammer throw with a distance of 206-3.
Schaefer was the third Badger to win an event as she won the shot put with a distance of 59-7 ¾. Danni Langseth also placed in the top 10 in the shot put, finishing sixth with a throw of 51-0. Schaefer also earned a sixth-place finish in the discus, throwing for 180-7.
Junior Kiley Robbins earned herself a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.51. The Badgers 4×100-meter relay squad made up of Armoni Brown, Taylor Gilling, Sydney Robinson abd Robbins placed second with a time of 46.00. This time now places them seventh on UW’s all-time list.
Bryan Clay Invitational
On day one of the Heptathlon, Shaina Zinter and Mackenzie Heyroth are currently in sixth and 10 place, respectively, with 2967 and 2277 points. In the 100-meter hurdles, the two athletes finished back-to-back, Heyroth earned a fifth-place finish crossing in 14.22 and Zinter followed right behind in 14.27.
