Four Illini Win Events on Third Day at Mount SAC Relays

AZUSA/WALNUT, Calif. – The Fighting Illini men’s and women’s track and field teams finished the third day of competition at the Mount SAC Relays and senior Danni Stoughton finished out her heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 14.  

Four Illini won their events: Junior Tyler Sudduth in the discus [56.13m, (184-2)], redshirt sophomore Kenli Nettles in the high jump [1.70m, (5-7)], sophomore DeVontae Ford in the 400m hurdles (51.50) and freshman Viktor Morozov in the triple jump [15.66m (51-4 1/2)].

FROM MT. SAC (WALNUT)

Junior Olivia Howell ran the eighth fastest (currently) 1500m in the nation (4:13.27) and placed second. Sophomore Halle Hill shaved nearly three seconds off of her personal-best and now holds the seventh fastest 1500m in school history (4:20.99).

Sophomore Tori Thomas tied for seventh in the ‘A’ flight of the pole vault, 4.15m (13-7 3/4). While freshman Mia Morello took eighth in the ‘B’ flight, 4.15m (13-7 3/4).

Redshirt senior Kashief King clocked a new personal-best 400m (47.06) and earned an eighth place finish.

FROM BRYAN CLAY (AZUSA)

Stoughton completed her first heptathlon today; she placed twelfth with 4,808 points. She finished second in the 800m (2:17.82) and leaped 5.41m (17-9) to take eleventh in the long jump.

UP NEXT

The track and field teams return to action tomorrow, April 15 for the final day of the of the Mt. SAC Relays while Tori Thomas and Mia Morello will pole vault in the Long Beach Invitational at 12:30 p.m. CT.
